Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department
Student Activities
Where the members of the teaching staff and the supporting staff of the department organized a scientific day for the students.
The activities started by reviewing the use of modern technology in teaching analytical chemistry courses using artificial intelligence models, holograms and virtual reality.
This was followed by examining students’ projects and models, and the participation of specialized faculty members and students of different levels in evaluating students’ work.

Today, Tuesday, August 23, 2022, the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry – Majoring in Analytical Chemistry – faculty of Pharmacy, received four foreign students from different faculties of pharmacy in Romania, Indonesia and Palestine within the student exchange programs of the Scientific Society at Horus University EPSF-HUE.
– Dr. Hisham Sameh and Dr. Aya Saad gave a theoretical lecture on HPLC device and how it works, explaining its most important uses and analyzing the data obtained from it.
– Dr. A. Merei and Dr. A. Roshdy conducted a practical and training experiment for female students on the device, where it was possible to determine the compound; Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin) in its pure form and tablets. It is worth mentioning that the students gave positive feedback and expressed happiness about the scientific day.
Medicinal Chemistry
Medicinal Chemistry department encourages students to participate in activities of all curricula in order to support self-learning and also urges them to review all the new data in the field of specialization and activates the link between the theoretical course and activities.
These activities contribute to teaching students self-reliance and create a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm among them. They also help to build positive relationships and new friendships among students.
There are various activities carried out by the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department including;
-Studying the effect of drug structure on its biological activity by using various scientific sites specialized in drug manufacturing science.
-Studying the effect of changing the composition of the drug on the physical and chemical properties.
-Presentation of videos explaining different aspects of the scientific content.
-Presentation and discussion of posters viewing various topics of the scientific content.
-Development of modern methods to help understand and memorise scientific material like mnemonics.
-Making activities in cooperation with Pharmacology department to optimise the learning of mutual topics.
In addition, the department received expatriate students in 2020 and 2022 from Indonesia, Romania and Palestine. They were given sessions on drug design and synthesis and were given lectures on novel anticancer and anti-diabetes drugs.
Organic Chemistry
For three consecutive years, at the same time each year, with the same details, with more joy, success and greater development.
With God’s grace and success, and under the generous patronage of His Excellency the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr.. Iman Al-Bandari, with the active participation of ideas from a graduate of Horus University, Iman Nasser, in coordination with the English Language Department at the university and the head of the department, Dr. Faten Zahran to organize a student conference for first-level students at the Faculty of Pharmacy in the honorary presence of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr.. Al-Saeed Abdel-Hadi, and in the presence of the deans of the various faculties and dozens of professors from the medical faculties of the university, Prof. Dr.. Hamada Abu Al-Khair, representative of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Horus University, prepared and organized the third student conference of the department on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 under the title
#Minor_difference_may_reflect_major_consequences
#Organic_Chemistry_Speaks_English
In which the students were divided into thirty-four teams, and each team was assigned to make a model of a drug from the Egyptian drug market under the supervision and follow-up of a fellow member of the assistant committee of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, taking into account the application of the theoretical content of the various courses in the department in a practical way and presenting it in sound language.
This student conference aims to link the theoretical content of the courses of pharmaceutical organic chemistry and English language with the practical reality.
After the deadline set for students to complete the tasks and review them with their professors in the department, and through this student conference, which a number of students of the same level helped organize, the innovations of the various student work teams were evaluated by His Excellency the President of the University, His Excellency the Vice President of the University, the deans of the medical colleges at the university and a number A senior member of the faculty of the Faculty of Pharmacy and medical colleges at the university.
The students showed great ingenuity in implementing the projects required of them and presenting them in a wonderful way, which encouraged all the arbitrators to express their great admiration for the students’ designs and their interactive presentation.
Based on the evaluations of all the professors participating in the arbitration committees, the codes of the winning teams in the first places and a number of different awards were announced, and a new date was set for the awards ceremony. Dr.. Iman Al-Bandari, Dean of the College, distributed shields, medals and certificates of appreciation to the most distinguished male and female students in an atmosphere full of joy and happiness from all the students participating in the conference.
